Beyond the Paint: Exploring Basketball’s Impact on Art and Culture

Basketball is a very fun sport, but the influence is more than just in the realm of the game. It’s actually a cultural phenomenon in many different areas, inspiring those who aren’t players to love the game. Let’s look at the impact basketball has made on culture, and the importance of this sport.

The NBA’s Influence

Sports leagues are always generating tons of revenue.  With the NFL and MLB also being big sports, the NBA is also a big one too, totaling about $8 billion in revenue.

That’s double what soccer does.   While the NBA isn’t as “popular” as other types of sports, there are tons of different benefits that are coming from this. The NBA is something that’s also got a growing fanbase, and a lot of the average viewers tend to be younger than the NFL and MLB. So yes, the NBA is important for generating revenue in the sports realm, but there’s so much more to it than that.

Art and the Basketball

One area that’s really shown an increase in influence is basketball and art.

Art is subjective, with a lot of different parts being up to the user, but with many artists growing up with this sport, you see it more often.

This is especially true in modern art, where a lot of the influence comes from things around the person. Basketball is one of them, and many will craft murals and canvas paintings of different parts of the game.

Former players also partake in art, just to show how much it means to them.

Basketball and Fashion

You see basketball in fashion trends too.

Basketball jerseys aren’t just worn by players. Many famous celebrities do love basketball jerseys.

These days, you also see them in their homes. They collect jerseys, just to have them to display.  It’s a form of pride, and something that’s been good for a lot of people.

Many caps that are sold with the team names are also a fashion staple.

Finally, basketball shorts. While worn for basketball games and practices, they’re also a super popular thing to wear for a lot of non-players, because they’re comfy, long, and usually have pockets too.

Basketball and Other Cultures

Basketball is also a worldwide sport that tons of people love.

You wouldn’t believe it at first, but the chinrest love basketball.  It’s a popular sport there, and many people in their culture play.

Along with that, a lot of Olympic players that are dominating aren’t just from America, but also from China, and other countries.

It’s a sport you can pick up with just about anyone, and the ongoing influence is something that’s really transcended boundaries.

The sharing of Experiences

Finally, more and more basketball players are sharing experiences.

With the advent of social media, there are now more ways to broadcast content. For instance LeBron James shares his camera with the kids he has, and his kids are also stars.

But what’s cool too, is that basketball is now easier to pick up than ever. These days, you can google a video just to see what you need to do better.

It’s remarkable really, and with basketball, more players are crafting a unique, shared experience.

We’ll see the influence of basketball more and more.  While it may not bae as popular as American football, it’s still a sport with tons of influence, and more players are looking to share those experiences with others, to cultivate awareness, understanding, and a love for the game.
